ADA Price Rises as Leverage and Whale Activity Jump

The ADA price rose from about $0.244 on 3 October to nearly $0.279 on 6 October, gaining roughly 9% over the week and breaking a long-term descending trendline. ADA is now testing the $0.277-$0.28 resistance zone. A weekly close above $0.28-$0.29 could open the way towards $0.30, with a longer-term target range of $0.35-$0.40. A failure to hold around $0.277 could trigger a pullback towards $0.274 and lower support. The latest rally appears to involve fresh leveraged buying. Santiment reported a 25% rise in ADA open interest to $304 million between 3 and 5 October, while CoinGlass estimated aggregate futures open interest at about $696 million and 24-hour futures volume at $1.17 billion. Large ADA transactions also increased, with 413 transfers worth at least $100,000 recorded on 5 October. Earlier data showed Binance spot volume reaching 89 million ADA in four hours, far above quieter-session levels. Binance positioning was 67.7% long, while funding remained mildly positive at 0.01%. Momentum indicators have improved, with ADA above its 20-day and 50-day moving averages. Weekly RSI stood at 56.47, below the traditional overbought level, but price was above the weekly Bollinger Band and the current weekly candle had not closed. The broader weekly trend remains fragile, with the 50-week moving average near $0.307 and the 0.236 Fibonacci retracement at $0.3461. Cardano’s RealFi protocol launched on mainnet on 1 October, introducing the RWA-backed USDrf and yield-bearing sUSDrf products. Cardano is also scheduled to attend TOKEN2049 Singapore on 7-8 October and has highlighted partnerships with UCLA Anderson and Petrobras, plus integration with the x402 payment toolkit. However, Cardano DeFi TVL remains near $70-$71 million, sharply below its December 2024 peak of $721 million. This suggests that ADA price momentum has outpaced on-chain fundamental recovery. For traders, the ADA outlook is cautiously bullish, but rising leverage increases the risk of a sharp reversal if resistance fails.
Bullish
The short-term impact is bullish because ADA has broken a long-term descending trendline, moved above key moving averages and attracted significantly higher spot and derivatives volume. Rising open interest, large transactions and a majority of long positions indicate stronger trader participation and could support a move through $0.28-$0.29 if the weekly close confirms the breakout. However, the bullish view is cautious. ADA is trading above the weekly Bollinger Band, leverage is increasing and funding is positive, which can amplify liquidation risk if buyers fail to defend $0.277. The weekly trend remains below major resistance near the 50-week moving average and the $0.346 Fibonacci level. DeFi TVL also remains far below its prior peak, limiting evidence of a durable fundamental recovery. Therefore, the news supports near-term upside for ADA, but crowded leverage could produce sharp volatility and pullbacks.
