Alibaba Cloud unveiled CUBE 5.0, a modular architecture it claims can deliver fully operational AI data centers in about 100 days. The company says this compresses timelines far beyond traditional construction, which can take 6–12 months in China and 12–18 months in the US. CUBE 5.0’s main change is pushing prefabrication to 90% for five critical systems: power supply, cooling, security, intelligent management, and fire protection. Alibaba Cloud says earlier CUBE versions achieved roughly 30% prefabrication across the same system set. The firm also claims overall construction costs can be cut by more than 10% alongside the schedule compression. Alibaba Cloud has already run pilot projects using the modular approach in Ulanqab, China.
