AnchorWatch Launches Bitcoin Custody With $10,000 Fee Cap

AnchorWatch has launched a Nevada-chartered Bitcoin custody service for fiduciaries, public companies, trusts and high-net-worth individuals. The Bitcoin custody offering has two key-control models: AnchorWatch manages custody keys, with clients able to retain additional signing authority, or key control is distributed among AnchorWatch, BitGo and CoinCorner. Fees are fixed in dollars and capped at $10,000 per month, which could limit costs for large clients as their holdings or Bitcoin’s price increase. Eligible clients can separately apply for insurance backed by Lloyd’s of London syndicates, with coverage potentially reaching $370 million per client. Coverage is subject to underwriting and policy terms and is not automatically included. The launch adds an institutional Bitcoin custody option, but clients must weigh the key arrangements, insurance exclusions and any uninsured risks.
Neutral
The announcement concerns institutional custody infrastructure rather than Bitcoin’s supply, demand or monetary policy, so it does not by itself provide a clear directional price catalyst. In the short term, the launch may draw attention to Bitcoin’s institutional adoption and custody options, but traders are unlikely to treat a new service provider as a material change to BTC market fundamentals. Over the longer term, capped fees, multiple key-control arrangements and optional insurance could support institutional participation and confidence in Bitcoin custody. However, insurance is conditional and does not eliminate custody or operational risks. Any potential effect on BTC would therefore likely be indirect and modest, with price action still driven more by broader market conditions, flows and macroeconomic factors.
