Animoca Brands Wins Abu Dhabi Fund Management Approval

Animoca Brands has received final approval to manage collective investment funds for non-retail clients in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). The Financial Services Regulatory Authority granted the permission to its subsidiary, Animoca Asset Management (AD) Limited. It took effect on Oct. 13, 2026, following in-principle approval in November 2025. The authorization excludes retail clients and does not permit the firm to hold or control client assets. The ADGM approval adds a regulated fund-management route as Animoca Brands expands its institutional presence in the UAE. Separately, a Dubai entity received a VARA licence in February to provide virtual asset brokerage and investment management services to institutional and qualified investors. Animoca has highlighted institutional interest in stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets and treasury management, but has not announced a specific fund, investment amount or product terms. The approvals broaden its regulated operations; their market significance will depend on any funds and services launched.
Neutral
The approval is a business and regulatory development for Animoca Brands, not a direct catalyst for a named cryptocurrency: neither summary identifies a token or reports a token-related product launch, committed capital or fund size. As a result, a material short-term price effect on any cryptocurrency is not established. Traders may view the expanded UAE permissions as a positive signal for institutional access to digital-asset services, but that sentiment is unlikely on its own to establish sustained buying or change market stability. Longer term, the impact could become more meaningful if Animoca announces funds or services that attract capital into areas such as stablecoins or tokenized real-world assets. Until details emerge, the approval alone offers limited grounds for a directional trading view.
