AXIS Token Sell-Off: Axis Robotics Denies Team Sales
Axis Robotics said its team and investors did not sell AXIS tokens during the sharp sell-off on 28–29 October. The company said 83.5% of the total supply, including team and investor allocations, remains locked in vesting contracts co-managed with Binance.
Axis Robotics said the sold tokens came from the initial circulating supply allocated to the ecosystem. These tokens had been delivered through a single over-the-counter (OTC) counterparty, with a written agreement requiring a lock-up. The project said the tokens were routed through exchange deposit channels and sold from hundreds of newly created addresses within hours, suggesting the OTC counterparty may have breached the agreement.
Axis Robotics has suspended further work with the counterparty and is reviewing the contract with legal counsel. The statement followed an earlier disclosure by on-chain investigator ZachXBT that alleged insider-linked AXIS selling had contributed to a roughly 40% price drop. The source of the sales remains under review.
Bearish
The immediate market impact is bearish for AXIS. The reported sell-off and roughly 40% price decline point to heavy selling pressure and heightened uncertainty over token distribution. Even though Axis Robotics denies that its team and investors sold, the possibility that an ecosystem allocation was sold in breach of a lock-up agreement may weaken confidence in the project’s token controls and counterparties.
In the short term, traders may focus on exchange inflows, wallet movements, trading volume, and whether the price can stabilise after the sell-off. Continued transfers to exchanges or further large sales could prolong volatility and encourage risk reduction. A clear explanation of the wallet activity, evidence of a contractual breach, or effective recovery measures could help ease some concerns, but may not immediately reverse the price move.
Over the longer term, the effect will depend on whether the project can establish who sold the tokens and enforce the agreement. Transparent disclosure and stronger safeguards for ecosystem distributions could restore confidence. If the investigation remains unresolved or similar sales recur, investors may apply a higher risk discount to AXIS. Unlike a confirmed team sale, the reported event is attributed to a possible OTC counterparty, so traders should distinguish the allegation from verified on-chain attribution.
