Berkshire Adds $330M to Bending Spoons

Berkshire Hathaway has agreed to invest another $330 million in Bending Spoons, bringing its announced investment in the Italian technology company to $930 million and its planned stake to about 4%. The deal, subject to customary closing conditions, buys 10 million newly issued shares at $33 each. Berkshire first invested $600 million during Bending Spoons’ July Nasdaq IPO, priced at $29 a share; the stock closed its first trading day at $40.50. Bending Spoons acquires and restructures digital businesses, including Evernote, Vimeo, AOL and WeTransfer, and has agreed to acquire Airtable. Its strategy has drawn criticism over job cuts and changes to products and subscriptions. The company reported second-quarter revenue of about $704 million, up 126% year over year, with acquisitions contributing to growth. Berkshire’s investment may support further acquisitions, but risks include customer losses, weaker legacy brands and acquisition financing. Bending Spoons’ IPO shares have also been represented through a tokenized product on the Mantle blockchain. The reports identify no direct impact on crypto markets or Mantle’s token price, so traders should treat the deal primarily as a corporate investment story.
Neutral
The news concerns Berkshire Hathaway’s investment in Bending Spoons, not a direct change to Mantle’s technology, token economics or adoption. Although Bending Spoons’ IPO shares have been represented through a tokenized product on Mantle, the reports provide no evidence that this investment affects MNT demand, network activity or liquidity. Short-term traders may note the tokenization connection, but without a clear catalyst, any price response is likely to be limited or driven by broader market conditions. Longer term, additional real-world asset tokenization could support interest in Mantle if it leads to measurable usage; this deal alone does not establish that outcome. The expected impact on MNT is therefore neutral.
