Bitcoin Faces Binance Outflows and ETF Selling Pressure
Bitcoin traded near $77,900 on Monday after recovering from a dip towards $76,000, but remained below the key $80,000 level. Binance-related security concerns and weak U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF flows continued to weigh on sentiment. After withdrawals resumed on November 1, customers withdrew about $4.65 billion and deposited $1.01 billion in the first nine and a half hours, leaving Binance with net outflows of $3.64 billion, or about 2.1% of its reported assets. Binance said withdrawals were stabilising and that it had replenished about 95% of the stolen assets, after previously saying it would cover customer losses.
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $643 million in outflows on October 30, their largest single-day withdrawal of the month. The outflows reversed inflows from the previous four sessions and left the week with net withdrawals of about $202 million. Increased derivatives activity and liquidations, alongside limited growth in open interest, suggest traders are mainly adjusting existing positions rather than adding substantial new capital.
Bitcoin faces resistance around $78,800–$80,100; a sustained break above this area could improve its short-term outlook. Failure to reclaim it may leave Bitcoin vulnerable to renewed selling, with support around $75,800 and $73,000. Traders are also watching the U.S. midterm elections on November 3 and employment data due November 6. Holding near $78,000 shows some resilience, but ETF outflows and exchange-security concerns could limit a recovery.
Bearish
The near-term balance of risks for Bitcoin is bearish. The reported Binance breach and the subsequent $3.64 billion net withdrawal increase concern about exchange security and can encourage risk reduction, while roughly $643 million in U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF outflows signal weaker institutional demand. Rising liquidations add to the risk of sharp price moves, and limited growth in open interest suggests little fresh capital is entering to absorb selling. Bitcoin’s recovery towards $78,000 offers some evidence of resilience, but it remains below the $78,800–$80,100 resistance zone. A failure to break above that range could expose support near $75,800 and then $73,000.
The outlook is not uniformly negative. Binance says withdrawals are stabilising and that it has replenished about 95% of the stolen assets, which may help calm immediate fears. A sustained reclaim of resistance and a reversal in ETF flows could support a recovery. Over the longer term, the security incident may reinforce scrutiny of exchange custody, while election and employment headlines could add volatility. Those factors do not determine Bitcoin’s direction on their own, but persistently weak demand or renewed security concerns would likely keep pressure on price.
