Bitcoin Rises to $81,547 After US GDP Beats Forecasts
Bitcoin climbed to $81,547 after stronger-than-expected US economic growth supported prices, despite a sell-off in tech stocks following Alphabet’s earnings miss. Bitcoin was trading above $81,000 after dipping to $79,607.
US third-quarter GDP growth was revised to 3.4%, beating the 3.2% forecast. September PCE inflation rose 3.6% year over year, in line with expectations. The Federal Reserve held interest rates at 3.75%–4% and described economic activity as strong, while noting that inflation remained elevated.
For traders, the immediate technical level to watch is $81,400. Analyst Rekt Capital said Bitcoin needs to close the week above that level to strengthen its near-term price outlook. Despite the rebound, resistance and broader market volatility remain risks.
Bullish
The news is modestly bullish for Bitcoin in the short term. GDP growth above forecasts and PCE inflation in line with expectations supported a rebound, with BTC reaching $81,547. The data may ease concerns about weakening economic activity without delivering an inflation surprise that would immediately unsettle markets. However, the Federal Reserve kept rates unchanged and said inflation remains elevated, limiting the case for an imminent shift to easier policy. Bitcoin also faces technical resistance: analyst Rekt Capital identified $81,400 as a key level for the weekly close. As in past macro-driven rallies, stronger growth data can boost risk appetite, but gains may fade if traders interpret resilient growth as a reason for rates to stay high. In the near term, a weekly close above $81,400 could encourage further buying; failure to reclaim it may leave Bitcoin range-bound or vulnerable to profit-taking. Over the longer term, the direction will depend more on inflation, rate expectations, liquidity and broader risk sentiment than on this single GDP report.
