Bitcoin Rebounds to $86K as Altcoins Rally
Bitcoin recovered from a volatile decline to about $76,400–$77,600 after a stronger-than-expected US jobs report triggered a rejection above $82,000. It later regained $79,000 and extended the rebound, briefly rising above $87,000 before facing repeated resistance near $87,300 and retreating towards $86,000.
Bitcoin market capitalisation increased from about $1.590 trillion to more than $1.730 trillion, while Bitcoin dominance rose from 58.8% to 59%. The total cryptocurrency market capitalisation climbed from $2.690 trillion to approximately $2.950 trillion, adding about $50 billion in the latest move.
Altcoin momentum also strengthened. HYPE reached successive all-time highs near $90 and then $98. XRP recovered from below $1.40, reclaimed $1.44 and later rose above $1.60. Zcash advanced from about $1,240 to above $1,600. Bitcoin Cash gained more than 33% and Uniswap rose 16%, reportedly following a CME-related announcement. AAVE, MNT, VVV, Polkadot, Cosmos and Litentry also gained, while ETH, BNB, SOL, DOGE and ADA were broadly unchanged in the latest session.
Traders are watching whether Bitcoin can break and hold above $87,300. A successful breakout could support further gains and sustain the altcoin rally, but repeated rejection may trigger a pullback. Macro data, elevated volatility and the sustainability of recent altcoin moves remain key risks.
Bullish
The combined price action is bullish because Bitcoin recovered from roughly $76,400–$77,600 to around $86,000 and the total crypto market capitalisation expanded to about $2.950 trillion. Bitcoin dominance also rose to 59%, indicating continued strength in the market’s leading asset. The later move above $87,000 and the breakout in HYPE, XRP, Zcash, Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap point to improving risk appetite and broader participation.
In the short term, Bitcoin’s repeated rejection near $87,300 is a clear resistance signal. Failure to break and hold that level could lead to profit-taking and renewed volatility, particularly after the sharp gains in smaller altcoins. Traders may also react to further US economic data, as the earlier jobs report showed how quickly macroeconomic surprises can reverse crypto prices.
Over the longer term, a sustained move above $87,300 could reinforce the recovery from the recent low and encourage additional capital to flow into altcoins. However, the rally remains vulnerable if Bitcoin loses momentum, dominance rises at the expense of altcoins, or CME-related and other event-driven gains fail to attract lasting demand.
