Bitunix Expands Care Fund to $50M USDC
Bitunix has increased its Care Fund from $30 million to $50 million USDC and published an on-chain address so users can verify the reserve. The exchange says the fund now covers the full value of its hot wallets.
Launched in 2025, the Care Fund is intended for exceptional incidents that require exchange action, not losses caused by ordinary market volatility. Any compensation will be assessed case by case after an investigation. Bitunix says the fund complements other security measures, including Proof of Reserves, account controls, third-party custody through Fireblocks and Cobo, and cold storage. The expansion may support confidence in Bitunix’s safeguards, but it does not directly affect crypto prices or remove custody and operational risks.
Neutral
The news concerns Bitunix’s exchange safeguards rather than USDC’s issuance, reserve backing or market liquidity, so it is unlikely to have a direct effect on USDC’s price. In the short term, traders may view the larger, verifiable fund as a positive signal for confidence in Bitunix, but it does not change USDC’s dollar peg or create a clear trading catalyst. Over the longer term, the fund may contribute to confidence in the exchange’s risk controls, while the impact on USDC price should remain limited. Compensation is discretionary and case-specific, and the fund does not eliminate custody or operational risks.
