Bitwise NEAR ETF Launches With Staking on NYSE Arca
Bitwise launched the Bitwise NEAR ETF under ticker NRR on NYSE Arca on September 29, 2026. The fund is described as the first US spot NEAR ETF, giving investors exchange-listed exposure to NEAR without directly holding the token.
The NEAR ETF plans to stake its holdings. Staking rewards will be reflected in the fund’s net asset value rather than paid directly to shareholders. Bitwise cited an annualized staking rate of about 5.3% as of September 25, but returns are not guaranteed. About 33% of staking income may go to staking agents, the custodian and Bitwise, leaving the fund with roughly 67% before other considerations.
NRR charges a 0.75% management fee. Traders should weigh potential staking income against fees, NEAR’s volatility, slashing risks, redemption delays and the possibility that realized returns fall below the cited rate.
Bitwise is marketing NEAR as settlement infrastructure for AI agents and highlighted NEAR Intents, which it said processed more than $32 billion in volume. The fund expands Bitwise’s US altcoin ETF lineup and could improve institutional access to NEAR. However, the short-term price impact will depend on NRR’s trading volume, asset inflows and broader market conditions.
Neutral
The launch is structurally positive for NEAR because the NEAR ETF creates a regulated US investment channel and may attract institutional demand. Staking could also improve the fund’s income profile and support demand if assets under management grow.
However, the immediate price effect is uncertain. ETF launches do not guarantee sustained inflows, and traders will likely monitor NRR’s volume, premiums or discounts to net asset value and new assets before reassessing NEAR. The 0.75% fee, the share of staking rewards retained by service providers, NEAR’s volatility and staking-related risks may limit demand. In the short term, the news could generate speculative buying but may have little lasting impact without strong inflows. Over the longer term, adoption of NEAR, growth in NEAR Intents and institutional participation could support the token, making a neutral classification appropriate until market data confirms demand.
