BlackRock Crypto ETF Assets Rebound 63% to $80B

BlackRock’s crypto ETF assets rose 63% in Q3 2026, from $48.8 billion at the end of June to about $79.6 billion at the end of September. The rebound reflected $7.9 billion in net inflows to its digital-asset products—the strongest quarterly inflow since Q3 2025—and $22.9 billion in market gains. Bitcoin rose more than 42% during the quarter, while Ethereum also advanced. The iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) accounts for most of BlackRock’s crypto exposure, with the iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) also contributing. Despite the quarterly recovery, BlackRock crypto ETF assets remain about 23% below their level a year earlier and below the roughly $104 billion peak recorded in September 2025. Over the past 12 months, $6.3 billion in net inflows was outweighed by $30.6 billion in market-value declines. The products generated $39 million in quarterly fees and securities-lending revenue. For traders, the inflows signal renewed demand, but the sharp role of price gains highlights how quickly crypto ETF assets can fall in a market pullback, even without investor withdrawals.
Bullish
The $7.9 billion quarterly net inflow into BlackRock’s crypto products points to stronger investor demand and may support sentiment around Bitcoin and Ethereum in the short term. Bitcoin’s gain of more than 42% also reflects a strong market backdrop, though it means much of the increase in fund assets came from price appreciation rather than inflows alone. In the longer term, sustained ETF demand could provide a supportive source of buying pressure. However, the assets remain below both their year-earlier level and the September 2025 peak, and the 12-month figures show that market-value losses can outweigh inflows. Traders should therefore treat the news as a positive demand signal, not a guarantee of continued price gains; a broad crypto pullback could quickly reverse the asset growth.
