BlackRock Expands Tokenization Across Funds and Portfolios
BlackRock is expanding tokenization across traditional financial products, adding tokenized model portfolios to its money-market, Treasury and stablecoin-reserve offerings. On September 24, 2026, it and Ondo Finance launched seven tokenized portfolios holding baskets of ETFs. In August, BlackRock introduced BSTBL, a tokenized share class of a Treasury liquidity fund worth about $7 billion, and BRSRV, a vehicle designed to hold stablecoin reserves. It also tokenized European money market funds totaling $311 billion on Ethereum using JPMorgan’s Kinexys platform.
The products build on BUIDL, BlackRock’s tokenized Treasury fund, which launched in 2024 and manages about $2 billion to $2.5 billion across networks including Ethereum and Solana. BlackRock says tokenization can enable faster settlement, round-the-clock transfers and more transparent records while meeting regulatory requirements. The asset manager aims to generate $500 million in annual digital-asset revenue by 2030. The expansion signals growing institutional adoption of blockchain-based finance, but the article does not identify an immediate effect on crypto prices.
Neutral
The development is structurally positive for blockchain adoption but has no clear, immediate trading catalyst for major cryptocurrencies. BlackRock is putting more traditional financial products on-chain, including funds and portfolios, and using Ethereum, Solana and other networks. That may strengthen long-term demand for tokenization infrastructure and support the broader institutional case for public blockchains.
However, the article reports product launches and asset figures, not direct purchases of ETH or SOL, nor changes to token supply, network fees or near-term fund flows. Similar institutional announcements—such as the launch and expansion of tokenized Treasury products—have helped build confidence in real-world asset tokenization, but have not necessarily produced sustained price rallies on their own. In the short term, crypto traders are more likely to react to macroeconomic conditions, liquidity and spot-market flows. Over the longer term, wider adoption could benefit networks that attract regulated assets and activity, although competition across chains and regulatory execution remain important. On balance, the news is neutral for immediate market direction, with a positive implication for the sector’s long-term infrastructure narrative.
