Blockchain.com Launches USDC-Funded Crypto Options

Blockchain.com has launched crypto options trading for eligible users in supported jurisdictions, expanding its trading services after rolling out perpetual futures. The USDC-funded contracts cover Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), Hyperliquid (HYPE), Avalanche (AVAX), XRP and TRON (TRX), with expiries of up to one week. The minimum premium is $5, excluding applicable fees. Buyers’ maximum loss is limited to the premium and any upfront fee, but positions cannot be sold or closed before settlement. The crypto options launch gives traders another way to gain exposure or manage risk, though the lack of early exit may limit flexibility. The announcement did not specify broader availability or all contract terms; Blockchain.com has also applied for CFTC registration.
Neutral
The launch adds a trading and risk-management venue for BTC, ETH, SOL, HYPE, AVAX, XRP and TRX, but does not directly change the fundamentals or supply of those assets. In the short term, options access could modestly increase trading activity and hedging demand, while the one-week maximum expiry and inability to close positions before settlement may constrain participation. Over the longer term, broader derivatives access can deepen market infrastructure, but the announcement provides no evidence of meaningful new demand or a shift in market conditions. Any price effects are therefore likely to be limited and depend on adoption, liquidity and broader market signals.
