BMEX_USDT Tick Size Cut: Minimum Price Increment Reduced From 0.0001 to 0.00001
BitMEX announced that the Minimum Price Increment (tick size) for the BMEX_USDT spot pair will be reduced on 11 August 2026 at 00:00:00 UTC.
Current BMEX_USDT Minimum Price Increment (USDT) is 0.0001. Starting 11 Aug 2026 00:00:00 UTC, the BMEX_USDT minimum price increment will become 0.00001.
A smaller Minimum Price Increment can, in theory, reduce bid-offer spreads, which may benefit price takers executing trades against the order book. The update applies specifically to the BMEX_USDT spot pair and may slightly increase order-book granularity.
BitMEX also notes that the Minimum Price Increment (tick size) is the smallest allowed step for price changes in the spot pair. For questions, users are directed to BitMEX Support.
Neutral
This is a microstructure-level change: BitMEX reduced the tick size for BMEX_USDT, from 0.0001 to 0.00001, effective 11 Aug 2026 UTC. Such adjustments can slightly improve execution quality by allowing finer price steps and potentially narrowing BMEX_USDT bid-offer spreads. That said, it is not directly a liquidity injection, leverage, listing, or tokenomics catalyst.
In similar past exchange tick-size reductions, traders typically react with modest, short-term volatility around the change window (operators rebalance limit orders and market makers tighten quotes). However, the broader market impact is usually limited unless accompanied by major order-book improvements, incentives, or ecosystem news.
Short term: expect some order-book re-pricing for BMEX_USDT, tighter spreads for takers, and possible temporary increases in quote activity.
Long term: unless spread compression translates into meaningfully higher trading volume and tighter liquidity conditions, the effect is likely modest. Overall, this should be mostly neutral for the wider crypto market, with localized implications for BMEX_USDT traders.
