CoinShares Renames Toncoin Staking ETP to Gram
CoinShares has renamed its Toncoin Staking ETP, formerly known as CTON, the CoinShares Gram Staking ETP. The change took effect on June 15, 2026, following the underlying token’s change from Toncoin (TON) to Gram (GRAM). The product’s structure remains unchanged: it is 100% physically backed, charges no management fee and passes staking rewards to investors. Holders do not need to take action or exchange tokens. The rebrand follows a community vote in which 81.22% supported the name change. Rival issuer 21Shares also renamed its Toncoin Staking ETP to Gram on June 16, changing its ticker from TONN to GRAM. The rebranding changes product and token names, but does not alter the ETPs’ stated backing or terms.
Neutral
The rebrand is primarily a change in naming, not a change to the ETP’s exposure or economics. CoinShares says the product remains fully backed by the underlying tokens, keeps its 0% management fee and continues to distribute staking rewards. Existing holders do not need to migrate or swap assets. These details limit the immediate case for a material price or market-stability response. The 81.22% community approval and 21Shares’ similar move may improve recognition and reduce confusion around the Gram name, potentially supporting attention to TON/GRAM-linked products over time. However, unlike a new listing, a change in staking yield, or a change to token supply, a product rebrand does not itself create new demand or alter network fundamentals. Traders may see short-term volatility around ticker and naming updates, particularly if exchanges or data providers update their listings at different times. Longer-term effects will depend more on liquidity, staking returns, adoption and the market’s assessment of Telegram’s renewed involvement with TON than on the ETP name change itself. Overall, the direct trading impact is likely limited, so a neutral assessment is appropriate.
