Crypto.com Launches US Perpetual Futures With 5x Leverage

Crypto.com and derivatives partner OG.com have launched regulated crypto perpetual futures for eligible US traders, with leverage of up to 5x. The contracts have no fixed expiry and are available through the Crypto.com App and Crypto.com Exchange. Traders can take long or short positions and use take-profit and stop-loss orders; funding payments may affect the cost of holding positions. OG.com provides the exchange, clearing and futures commission merchant services. Crypto.com is registered with the National Futures Association as an introducing broker. The launch follows the CFTC’s May move to open the US market to crypto perpetual contracts. Kraken introduced a US perpetuals product in June, while the new service also adds competition with Coinbase. The launch expands access to crypto perpetual futures through regulated US derivatives infrastructure. The 5x leverage cap is lower than on some offshore exchanges, but leverage can still magnify losses as well as gains. The announcement did not specify which cryptocurrencies are available. More trading on domestic platforms could broaden the US derivatives market, but the launch alone does not establish a direct price catalyst for any particular cryptocurrency.
Neutral
The launch is a development in regulated derivatives access and platform competition, not a direct change to the supply, demand or fundamentals of a named cryptocurrency. The reports do not identify which tokens the contracts will cover, so there is no clear basis to expect an immediate price move in a specific asset. In the short term, the announcement may attract attention to Crypto.com and US derivatives trading, but any effect on CRO would be indirect and likely limited unless accompanied by increased platform use or other token-specific developments. Over the longer term, regulated access could support broader derivatives participation and improve market infrastructure, while leverage and funding costs may increase trading risks. Those factors do not, on their own, establish a directional price impact for CRO or another cryptocurrency.
