Ether ETF Outflows Top $1B as Bitcoin Flows Recover

US spot Ether ETF outflows rose from about $955 million earlier in October to $1.08 billion, the largest monthly total of 2026 so far, according to SoSoValue. The withdrawals followed $320 million in weekly outflows and erased September’s $832 million of inflows. Ether ETFs recorded $26 million in net inflows on Tuesday, while year-to-date inflows stood at about $485 million with eight trading sessions left in the month. Ether ETF outflows have coincided with ETH falling 9.7% in October to about $2,438 and nearly 18% in 2026. US spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $229 million in the earlier week, but later attracted $527 million on Monday and $23 million on Tuesday. Bitcoin ETFs were still down about $67 million for October, but their year-to-date net inflows had reached roughly $809 million. BTC traded near $82,954, down 2.2% since the start of October. Solana, Zcash and Hyperliquid funds also recorded weekly outflows.
Bearish
The overall signal is bearish, primarily for ETH: more than $1 billion in October Ether ETF outflows, a sharp monthly price decline and a nearly 18% drop in 2026 point to weak demand and may encourage short-term selling or cautious positioning. Tuesday’s inflow offers a possible sign of stabilization, but one positive session does not yet reverse the broader withdrawal trend. If outflows persist, they could weigh on sentiment and liquidity over the longer term; a sustained return to net inflows would weaken that bearish case. Bitcoin’s picture is more mixed: large inflows on Monday and Tuesday and positive year-to-date flows are supportive, although the month remains net negative and BTC is down since October began. The weekly outflows from Solana, Zcash and Hyperliquid funds add to evidence of selective caution, but ETF flows alone do not determine prices and should be considered alongside broader market conditions.
