Crypto Liquidations Reach $190M, Mostly Long Positions
Crypto liquidations climbed from $149 million in a one-hour snapshot to about $190 million over four hours, according to CoinGlass. In the four-hour period, $177 million came from long positions—about 93.2% of the total—while short liquidations were approximately $13.15 million. The earlier one-hour figures showed $146 million in long liquidations and $3.64 million in short liquidations; Bitcoin liquidations were $48.52 million and Ethereum liquidations were $45.38 million. The heavy skew towards long liquidations points to a sharp unwind of leveraged bullish trades and heightened market volatility. Traders may reassess leverage and short-term risk, although liquidation data alone does not confirm a broader trend reversal.
Bearish
The predominance of long liquidations suggests that leveraged bullish positions were forced out during a period of sharp price movement. In the short term, these forced sales can add downward pressure, increase volatility and prompt traders to reduce leverage or adopt more defensive positions. The one-hour figures already showed a strong imbalance, and the later four-hour figures indicate that long liquidations remained dominant across the broader period. However, liquidation totals are not a standalone price signal: they do not establish the direction or scale of the underlying market move, and forced selling can sometimes mark an exhaustion of leveraged positions. Longer-term direction will depend on follow-through in spot prices, trading volume and broader market conditions, so the data does not by itself confirm a lasting bearish trend.
