Fairshake Crypto PACs Spend $2.7M in House Races
Fairshake-affiliated PACs Defend American Jobs and Protect Progress reported a combined $2.7 million in media and direct-mail spending to support candidates in 2026 US House races, 22 days before the midterm election. The reported spending included $512,000 for California Representative Pete Aguilar, $500,000 for New Jersey Representative Josh Gottheimer, more than $76,000 for House Majority Whip Tom Emmer and $73,000 for House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn Thompson. Fairshake also announced plans to back 32 additional House candidates, with six set to receive $1 million each in supportive media spending. As of August, the group held $122 million in cash and planned at least $30 million in media spending to oppose Sherrod Brown’s Ohio Senate bid. The candidates named in the report voted for the CLARITY Act, a crypto market-structure bill that passed the House in 2025 but failed a Senate procedural vote in September. The Fairshake spending highlights the crypto industry’s effort to influence US digital-asset policy, but the reports identify no direct impact on cryptocurrency prices.
Neutral
The reported PAC spending is aimed at influencing US elections and digital-asset legislation, not at buying or selling a cryptocurrency. It may shape traders’ expectations about the future regulatory environment, particularly because the supported candidates backed the CLARITY Act. In the short term, however, political spending alone provides no clear signal for crypto prices, and the bill’s failure to advance in the Senate leaves the policy outcome uncertain. Over the longer term, successful election efforts could increase the likelihood of crypto-friendly legislation and improve industry sentiment, while setbacks or continued legislative gridlock could temper those expectations. Similar political developments can prompt brief sentiment-driven volatility, but the reports provide no direct evidence of a price impact or change in market indicators. The appropriate view for cryptocurrency prices is therefore neutral.
