Curve StableSwap Goes Live on Stellar, Expanding Beyond EVM

Curve Finance has launched StableSwap on Stellar mainnet, marking its first native deployment outside EVM-compatible networks. Rebuilt for Stellar’s Soroban smart-contract platform with support from the Stellar Development Foundation, the beta interface lets users swap stablecoins and provide liquidity. Curve StableSwap pools target assets with similar prices and aim to reduce slippage; liquidity providers can earn a share of swap fees, while permissionless pools can support stablecoins and tokenized assets. At the time of the announcement, Curve had about $1.27 billion in total value locked and Stellar’s stablecoin market was worth about $394 million, mostly in USDC. Trading activity and adoption for the new pools have not yet been disclosed, making the launch an early-stage development rather than a proven source of demand. Stellar already supports payments and tokenized assets, including a Franklin Templeton money market fund. Curve plans to add pool creation and better pool data to its interface, and to launch FXSwap for assets such as dollar- and euro-pegged stablecoins after the code is audited. Curve says Stellar will be its only non-EVM focus for the foreseeable future. Traders should weigh the potential for greater DeFi activity against smart-contract risks and the possibility of stablecoin depegs.
Neutral
The launch adds a new DeFi venue to Stellar and gives Curve a route to attract liquidity beyond EVM networks, which could support ecosystem activity over time. However, the reported figures describe Curve and Stellar’s broader markets, not the new pools’ performance. No pool-level trading volume or adoption data is available, so there is not yet clear evidence of added demand that would drive a near-term change in XLM’s price. Traders may initially watch liquidity, volume, integrations and user growth before repricing the news. In the longer term, successful adoption could improve Stellar’s utility and sentiment, while smart-contract vulnerabilities, stablecoin depegs or weak liquidity could limit benefits or increase volatility. These uncertain and indirect effects support a neutral assessment for Stellar’s market price.
