Dunamu and MoonPay Explore Stablecoin Payments

Upbit operator Dunamu and crypto payments firm MoonPay will explore stablecoin payments, international fund transfers and blockchain infrastructure for corporate treasury operations. The proposed stablecoin payments could combine MoonPay’s global financial network with Dunamu’s blockchain capabilities to support businesses operating across markets. Dunamu also plans to use MoonPay’s network to help bring services and digital assets from its GIWA blockchain ecosystem to international markets. GIWA is an Ethereum Layer 2 network built using the OP Stack. The agreement is exploratory. The companies have not announced a launch date, financial terms, supported stablecoins, customers or target jurisdictions. They will assess the technical and commercial viability of potential services. The move follows MoonPay’s plans to expand stablecoin and digital asset infrastructure in South Korea, and Dunamu’s separate discussions and partnerships on blockchain payments and remittances.
Neutral
The agreement is exploratory, with no launch date, commercial terms, supported stablecoins, customers or jurisdictions disclosed. It therefore does not yet change stablecoin demand, transaction flows or the outlook for a specific token. The news is best viewed as a strategic development rather than a near-term trading catalyst. Short-term market reaction is likely to be limited. Traders may monitor follow-up announcements, but without concrete implementation details, any price response in ETH or OP—the tokens associated with Ethereum and Optimism, whose technology underpins GIWA—could be modest and easily outweighed by broader market conditions. Similar announcements of payment partnerships have often attracted attention but produced limited sustained price movement until a product launches, obtains regulatory clearance or reports measurable usage. Longer term, a successful rollout could support greater use of stablecoins for cross-border business payments and corporate treasury activity. MoonPay’s international network and Dunamu’s access to South Korea’s digital-asset market could help expand blockchain payment infrastructure. However, adoption will depend on regulatory approvals, settlement and custody arrangements, supported assets and actual business demand. Until those details emerge, the potential impact on market stability and token prices remains uncertain.
