Ethereum ETF Outflows Deepen as ETH Faces Bearish Pressure
Ethereum remained under pressure after US spot Ether ETFs recorded $155.7 million in net outflows on October 30. Withdrawals extended to five consecutive sessions, reaching $431.4 million in total and adding to concerns about weak demand for ETH. The price recovered to around $2,266 in the later update, up from an earlier level near $2,240, but remained below its weekly high of $2,385.
Derivatives signals also pointed to caution. ETH futures funding rates fell to their lowest level since June, short positions remained elevated, and more than $350 million in futures positions were liquidated in the earlier report, including about $311 million in longs. Traders are watching support near $2,250 and the $2,192 level; earlier analysis highlighted a $2,170–$2,200 support zone. A sustained break below $2,192 could expose ETH to further losses, including toward $2,100 and $2,000. On the upside, a recovery above $2,256 could bring $2,350–$2,400 into view, while the later analysis also flagged $2,500 as resistance.
Market caution was compounded by a Binance security breach involving about $6.3 billion in digital assets, which investigators linked to North Korea’s TraderTraitor group. Wallet movements tied to the attacker may raise concerns about potential selling, although transfers do not confirm that assets were sold on exchanges. Bitmine added 10,452 ETH and raised its holdings above 6 million tokens, but the purchase has not offset ETF outflows and bearish derivatives positioning. Traders are likely to monitor Ethereum ETF flows, key ETH price levels and developments related to the breach.
Bearish
The near-term balance of signals is bearish for ETH. Five consecutive days of spot Ether ETF outflows, totaling $431.4 million, suggest persistent institutional selling or weak demand. Low futures funding rates, elevated short positioning and heavy liquidations—particularly the closure of long positions—add to downside pressure and could amplify volatility if support levels fail. The Binance breach and uncertainty around attacker-linked wallets may further weaken sentiment, although wallet transfers alone do not establish that ETH has been sold.
ETH’s recovery to about $2,266 and Bitmine’s accumulation of more than 6 million ETH offer some counterpoints, but neither has yet reversed the broader flow and derivatives signals. In the short term, traders may watch $2,250 and especially $2,192; a sustained break below the latter could put $2,100 and $2,000 in focus. A move back above $2,256, followed by resistance near $2,350–$2,400, would improve the technical picture, with $2,500 a further resistance level. Over the longer term, persistent ETF outflows could keep a lid on demand, while a reversal in flows and stabilization in derivatives positioning would be needed to support a durable recovery.
