Ether.fi Stablecoin Launches With Ethena Managing Reserves
Ether.fi is launching the ether.fi USD stablecoin through Ethena’s Whitelabel Stablecoin-as-a-Service platform. Ethena will manage reserves, issuance, redemptions, custody, backing and compliance, while Ether.fi retains the brand and user relationship.
The launch date, supported blockchains, reserve assets and revenue-sharing terms have not been disclosed. Ether.fi is targeting more than $300 million in stablecoin deposits already held on its platform. The stablecoin will be integrated across Ether.fi products, including its Cash card.
The Cash card launched in 2024 and has processed nearly $1 billion in cumulative spending across more than 100,000 active cards, according to Ethena. The stablecoin is intended to support Ether.fi’s crypto payments, DeFi and financial-services ecosystem.
Potential reserve assets include USDe, USDtb and other stablecoins. Ethena’s Whitelabel platform has also supported Jupiter’s JupUSD, MegaETH’s USDm and Sui’s suiUSDe. The new stablecoin could increase Ether.fi ecosystem activity and demand for Ethena-linked assets, but near-term price impact is likely limited until traders receive details on collateral quality, redemption mechanics, liquidity and launch timing.
Neutral
The launch is strategically positive for Ether.fi and Ethena because it could expand Ether.fi’s payments and DeFi ecosystem, attract more stablecoin deposits and create additional demand for Ethena-linked assets. Ether.fi’s target of more than $300 million in deposits and the Cash card’s existing usage provide a potentially meaningful distribution channel.
However, the immediate trading impact is neutral. The stablecoin’s launch date, supported chains, reserve composition, liquidity arrangements and redemption model remain unknown. A reserve structure concentrated in USDe could carry different risks from one backed mainly by traditional assets, while another branded stablecoin could also fragment liquidity. Traders are therefore likely to wait for detailed disclosures before repricing ETHFI, ENA or related assets. Long-term sentiment could turn bullish if adoption and reserves prove strong, but current information does not support a clear directional price signal.
