Gate Visa Crypto Card to Expand Across 40+ Markets
Gate plans to expand its Visa crypto card to more than 40 markets. Users can apply for and manage the card in the Gate app, where eligible digital assets are automatically converted into local fiat currency at checkout. Merchants receive standard Visa payments and do not need to accept crypto directly. The Gate Visa crypto card is part of Gate Money, which combines digital assets, fiat, investments and payment services; Gate says it serves more than 61 million users. Supported markets, assets, eligibility and card features will vary, and Gate has not confirmed the full rollout date or published a complete list of markets. Visa says more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs are live globally, with payment volume up nearly 200% year over year. The launch adds to the use of crypto cards for everyday spending, though its reach will depend on local availability.
Neutral
The announcement may improve Gate’s visibility and support the broader use of crypto-linked payments, but it does not specify card launch timing across markets, expected transaction volumes, or any mechanism that would increase demand for Gate’s native token, GT. As a result, the direct price impact on GT is likely limited. In the short term, traders may respond to the expansion headline, but any move could be modest and may fade without evidence of increased adoption or token-related benefits. Over the longer term, wider card availability could strengthen Gate’s user ecosystem if it leads to sustained activity; however, the effect on GT will depend on whether that growth translates into concrete token utility or demand. Market conditions and execution across different jurisdictions remain important factors.
