GoTyme Bank Launches Google & Apple Pay, Expands Crypto Rollout

GoTyme Bank, a BSP-licensed digital bank and VASP, has announced plans to integrate Google Pay and Apple Pay into its GoTyme mobile app, aiming to enhance online and in-store transactions in the Philippines. The bank also outlined its roadmap to launch a full crypto rollout under the “Go Crypto” feature, currently in limited testing, supporting BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, LINK, AAVE, AVAX, BCH and DOT. Additional future services include local equities trading, foreign user onboarding via Wise-powered remittances, Buy Now, Pay Later lending, expanded biller and insurance options, and continued deployment of Dewey Machines for cash access. Since receiving its VASP license in 2024, GoTyme Bank has grown to ₱30 billion in deposits and 6.5 million users. Co-CEO Abet Tinio emphasized financial inclusion, user education, and safe trading ahead of the full crypto launch.
Bullish
GoTyme Bank’s announcement signals deeper mainstream integration of cryptocurrency trading and digital payments in the Philippines, a major growth market for retail crypto adoption. By adding Google Pay and Apple Pay alongside a dedicated “Go Crypto” feature for assets like BTC, ETH, XRP and SOL, the bank reduces friction for entry and may boost trading volumes. This mirrors bullish precedents such as PayPal’s 2020 crypto launch, which led to increased on-chain activity and positive price momentum. In the short term, traders may respond with heightened demand for supported coins, anticipating greater liquidity and access. Over the longer term, institutional backing and regulatory compliance (via its BSP VASP license) enhance market stability and confidence, potentially encouraging more financial institutions to adopt similar offerings. Overall, this development supports a bullish outlook for local crypto markets and could contribute to sustained growth in adoption and trading.
