Grayscale Files for Litecoin ETF Listing on NYSE Arca

Grayscale Investments has filed an S-3/A registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to convert its Grayscale Litecoin Trust into the Grayscale Litecoin Trust ETF, proposed to trade on NYSE Arca under the ticker LTCN. The filing follows a 19b-4 proposal submitted in January 2025, but the Litecoin ETF has not been approved and cannot begin trading until the SEC completes its review. If approved, the Litecoin ETF would use in-kind creation and redemption, supported by Coinbase under a new prime brokerage agreement. This structure could reduce the premium or discount between LTCN’s market price and its Litecoin holdings, while giving institutions easier access to LTC through traditional brokerage accounts. The trust held about 24.25 million shares and $82.28 million in net assets on June 30, 2026, equivalent to roughly $3.39 per share based on NAV. Assets have fallen about 62% from more than $215 million in early 2025. The trust also charges a 2.5% annual sponsor fee. For traders, the Litecoin ETF filing may strengthen expectations for regulated crypto investment products, but its immediate impact on LTC is likely to be limited until the SEC accepts, delays or rejects the application. Traders should monitor the SEC review, LTCN’s premium or discount, Litecoin trading volume, volatility and broader crypto ETF flows.
Neutral
The filing is a constructive long-term development for Litecoin because an approved Litecoin ETF could expand institutional access, improve market liquidity and help LTCN trade closer to the value of its underlying LTC holdings. In-kind creation and redemption could also reduce persistent premiums or discounts. However, the application is not an approval, and the SEC review could lead to acceptance, delays or rejection. The trust’s declining assets and relatively high 2.5% sponsor fee may also limit demand. In the short term, traders are likely to react more strongly to regulatory updates than to the filing itself. LTC’s price may see temporary volatility if approval expectations rise, but broader crypto market conditions, ETF flows and Litecoin trading volume will remain important drivers. Because the immediate catalyst is speculative and the regulatory outcome is uncertain, the expected price impact on LTC is neutral.
