Hardhat v3.21.0 Adds Experimental EIP-7954 Support

Hardhat v3.21.0 expands experimental support for Ethereum’s Amsterdam hardfork with EIP-7954, allowing deployment transactions to include up to 128 KiB of init code and deploy contracts up to 64 KiB. The release also updates EDR to v0.24.0 and adds Amsterdam activation support for the Hoodi testnet. Hardhat v3.21.0 includes fixes for gas-limit reporting, simulated Optimism (OP) network L1 data fees, coverage reports, invalid private-key errors, and several other development tools. The update is primarily relevant to Ethereum developers and test-network users; it does not announce a token or market-related change.
Neutral
Hardhat v3.21.0 is a developer-tool update, not a change to Ethereum’s monetary policy, network security, or token economics. Its EIP-7954 support and related fixes may help developers test larger contracts and improve compatibility with Amsterdam and Optimism networks, but the release does not itself change ETH or OP supply, transaction demand, or protocol fees across live markets. Short-term trading effects are therefore likely to be limited; any reaction would more plausibly be confined to developer and ecosystem sentiment. Over the longer term, smoother tooling and hardfork readiness can support application development and network reliability, which may indirectly benefit ecosystem activity. Similar client and development-framework releases have generally been treated as incremental technical news unless paired with a major upgrade, security issue, or measurable change in usage. Traders should distinguish this release from a confirmed mainnet activation or a change in on-chain activity, and monitor actual adoption and network metrics before interpreting it as a directional market signal.
