15 Hijacked Customer Domains Restored After DeFi Attack
Name.com says all 15 customer domains hijacked in an attack have been restored. Vercel said 10 of the affected domains were linked to its platform. The compromised domains were used to target more than a dozen DeFi websites, including Flap, Kintsu, Pickle Finance and Origami Finance, and drain visitors’ crypto wallets. About $138,000 in stolen funds has been traced to three wallets on EVM chains. That figure does not include losses on Solana or Aptos.
Bearish
The direct market impact is bearish for affected DeFi users and projects: compromised domains enabled wallet-draining attacks, while the reported $138,000 in EVM-chain losses excludes any losses on Solana and Aptos. The restoration of all 15 domains limits the ongoing exposure, but does not reverse stolen funds or remove concerns about the security of web infrastructure used by crypto applications. Similar website compromises and front-end attacks have typically prompted short-term caution, with traders monitoring affected tokens, exploit updates, and recovery efforts. This incident appears concentrated in particular sites, so it is unlikely by itself to indicate broad market stress or materially alter major-asset prices. Longer term, further losses or evidence of systemic weaknesses could weigh on confidence in DeFi and increase scrutiny of domain registrars and hosting platforms. A limited incident response and confirmed recovery may help contain that effect.
