Hyperliquid Revenue Tops $1B as HYPE Buybacks Exceed 41M Tokens
Hyperliquid surpassed $1 billion in cumulative protocol revenue on 30 June 2026. The decentralised perpetuals platform recorded about $492 billion in trading volume in the first quarter, ranking second to Coinbase by volume. Hyperliquid uses an estimated 97% to 99% of protocol fees through its Assistance Fund to buy HYPE on the open market. More than 41 million HYPE tokens have been bought back and burned, with a stated value exceeding $1 billion. Hyperliquid’s revenue comes mainly from opening and closing trade fees and fees for creating new markets. Funding payments are exchanged between traders and are not retained by the protocol.
Bullish
The news is bullish for HYPE because Hyperliquid directs most protocol fees toward open-market purchases and burns, creating recurring buying pressure while reducing the token’s circulating supply. The reported revenue and trading volume also indicate substantial platform activity, which may strengthen confidence in the protocol’s fee model. Similar buyback-and-burn announcements in crypto have often supported a token’s sentiment in the short term, particularly when traders expect the mechanism to continue. However, the announcement alone does not establish a price trend: the effect depends on future trading volume, fee generation and the consistency of buybacks. Broader market conditions, token unlocks or selling pressure could offset the impact. Longer term, sustained revenue and deflationary token flows could be supportive for HYPE, but they do not guarantee price appreciation or broader market stability.
