Injective Launches Nvidia GPU Rental Perpetual Market

Injective has launched the Super Intelligence Compute Index (SICI), a perpetual futures market tracking Nvidia GPU rental prices. The Injective GPU rental index covers the H100, B200, H200, A100 and RTX 4090, with hourly readings based on a trailing seven-day average. H100 carries a 40% weighting and B200 25%; the index also includes H200 at 15%, and A100 and RTX 4090 at 10% each. London-based LO:TECH validates rental listings, filters outliers and publishes a daily fixing at 19:00 UTC. Traders can take long or short positions with up to 10x leverage, using USDC as margin. The market expands Injective’s earlier H100-only contract, launched in August 2025, and could let AI developers hedge compute costs while GPU providers manage rental-revenue risk. The launch adds an AI-infrastructure use case for onchain derivatives, but no direct change to INJ token economics was announced. It comes amid concerns about returns on AI infrastructure; Gartner has warned that more than 80% of specialist AI cloud providers could lose their independence by 2030.
Neutral
The launch broadens Injective’s onchain derivatives offering and could attract traders and users interested in AI infrastructure markets. However, the announcement does not specify changes to INJ’s token utility, supply or demand, so a direct effect on INJ’s price is unclear. Short-term trading may respond to attention around the new product, but any move could be limited or temporary unless the market generates sustained activity, fees or ecosystem growth. Over the longer term, adoption could support sentiment toward Injective if it brings meaningful trading volume and users; the index’s launch alone does not establish that outcome. Broader concerns about AI infrastructure profitability relate to the sector rather than providing a clear directional signal for INJ. On the available information, the expected impact on INJ is neutral.
