KRW1 Planned for Injective RWA Settlement
Injective and South Korean digital-asset custodian BDACS have signed a memorandum of understanding to use KRW1, a won-backed stablecoin, to settle tokenised real-world assets (RWAs) on Injective. The proposal would let eligible institutions settle directly in Korean won rather than first converting funds into US dollar stablecoins. BDACS says KRW1 is backed one-to-one by won held in escrow at Woori Bank. First issued on Avalanche in September 2025 as a technical proof of concept, KRW1 would initially be minted and redeemed on Injective only by approved institutional partners, subject to regulatory approval. No launch date or partner list has been announced, and retail access is not available. The deal comes as South Korea prepares its Digital Asset Basic Act, while the country’s five largest crypto exchanges have reportedly seen about $10.4 billion in net stablecoin outflows over 18 consecutive months. Injective says its network has processed more than $7.5 billion in RWA transactions and supported over $1 billion in tokenised asset issuance; these figures do not establish likely KRW1 demand. The proposal could improve Injective’s appeal to Korean institutions, but its market impact depends on regulation, implementation and adoption.
Neutral
The agreement is a potential utility and institutional-access positive for Injective, but it is only a memorandum of understanding. There is no launch timetable, confirmed partner list or evidence of KRW1 adoption, and institutional minting and redemption depend on regulatory approval. In the short term, the announcement may draw attention to INJ and Injective’s RWA activity, but it does not establish near-term transaction demand or token-value accrual, so any price reaction may be limited or sentiment-driven. Over the longer term, implementation, regulatory clarity and sustained settlement volumes could strengthen the network’s use case and support interest in INJ. Conversely, delays or low liquidity and adoption would weaken that potential. On the information available, the direct price impact on INJ is therefore neutral.
