Interactive Brokers Adds ETH Staking via Zerohash

Interactive Brokers (IBKR) has launched ETH staking through crypto infrastructure provider Zerohash for eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients. Clients can request to stake or unstake ETH through the Client Portal and track activity in a Staking Dashboard. Rewards are added to staked ETH, where they may earn further rewards while the position remains staked. The launch adds ETH staking to IBKR’s existing crypto services, which include trading in 20 digital assets, external wallet transfers, stablecoin funding and Bitcoin and Ether futures through Coinbase Derivatives. IBKR’s reported client assets have risen from more than $903 billion in the earlier account to $964.7 billion in the later summary. Eligibility and availability may vary by jurisdiction; the announcement does not specify staking rates or other service terms.
Neutral
The launch is a positive expansion of access to ETH staking, but its direct price impact is likely limited. It could encourage some eligible IBKR clients to hold and stake ETH, marginally reducing the amount readily available to trade and adding a potential source of demand over time. However, the service is limited by eligibility and jurisdiction, and no reward rate or adoption figures have been disclosed. In the short term, ETH is therefore more likely to respond to broader market conditions and trading flows than to this announcement alone. Longer term, wider access to staking through a large brokerage may support ETH’s investment appeal, but the scale of any effect on supply, liquidity and price will depend on uptake and the service terms.
