Kazakhstan Court Restricts Six Crypto Platforms in AIFC

A Kazakhstan court has ordered six crypto platforms—BingX, Bitcoin.com, HTX, BitMart, Coinbase and WEEX—to stop providing, offering or advertising unlicensed digital-asset services in the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). The AIFC Court granted claims brought by the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) on September 15. The restrictions also cover mobile apps, with Google and Apple required to limit access to the named services in their app stores within the hub. The orders apply in the AIFC, not across Kazakhstan as a whole, where crypto firms must meet applicable local licensing requirements to operate in the financial centre. LBank was removed from the proceedings on September 18 after its operator blocked access in Kazakhstan and addressed AFSA’s concerns. The regulator said it warned more than 20 platforms in 2025: nine later restricted app access voluntarily, seven said they planned to seek licences, and the remaining six faced court-ordered restrictions. The action comes as Kazakhstan develops rules for crypto exchanges, stablecoins and tokenized assets. The court restrictions may disrupt access for users in the AIFC and prompt traders to check service availability or consider licensed alternatives. However, the limited geographic scope means the crypto regulation move is unlikely to have a significant effect on broader crypto-market prices.
Neutral
The ruling targets access to six platforms within the AIFC and does not ban them nationwide or target a specific cryptocurrency. It may create short-term uncertainty for affected users and lead some traders to switch platforms, but the limited jurisdiction and the absence of a direct restriction on a major token make a broad price reaction unlikely. Similar enforcement actions can briefly weigh on sentiment around local crypto access, while their longer-term market effect tends to depend on whether regulation spreads, changes liquidity, or alters demand for particular assets. The available information does not indicate such a wider impact, so the expected effect on cryptocurrency prices and overall market stability is neutral.
