Strategy Resumes Bitcoin Buying With 4,603 BTC

Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, has resumed Bitcoin buying after a roughly 10-week pause. The company purchased 4,603 BTC for about $369.7 million between 24 and 30 August 2026, at an average price of $80,318 per Bitcoin. Its reported holdings rose to 845,050 BTC, reinforcing Strategy’s position as the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder. Michael Saylor said Strategy also added $29 million to its US dollar cash position and repurchased $152 million of STRC preferred equity. As of 30 August, the company reported $6.71 billion in cash and other US dollar assets, with net leverage at 0%. Strategy has spent more than $63.7 billion on Bitcoin since adopting its cryptocurrency treasury strategy in 2020. The renewed Bitcoin buying is a constructive long-term signal for BTC and a closely watched indicator of corporate and institutional demand. However, one company’s purchase does not prove that broader institutional buying is accelerating. BTC was trading near $77,200, down 1.2% over 24 hours, with daily volume of about $81.7 billion. Because Strategy’s average purchase price exceeded the market price, the transaction may have limited immediate impact and could leave the company exposed to short-term volatility. Strategy shares also carry corporate and capital-structure risks that differ from directly holding Bitcoin.
Bullish
Strategy’s purchase of 4,603 BTC removes additional supply from the market and signals continued corporate confidence in Bitcoin. Its enlarged treasury may support the long-term narrative of institutional adoption and could strengthen sentiment if other companies follow. The immediate price effect is likely limited. The purchase was relatively small compared with Bitcoin’s total market and daily trading volume, while BTC was already trading below Strategy’s average acquisition price. The company’s resumption of buying may attract trader attention and provide short-term support, but it does not confirm a broader institutional accumulation trend. Traders should also monitor BTC’s price reaction, spot volume and further corporate treasury announcements. Overall, the news is mildly bullish for Bitcoin over the long term, while near-term volatility and profit-taking remain possible.
