NXTT Authorizes Potential Sale or Collateralization of 5,833 Bitcoin

Nasdaq-listed Next Technology Holding (NXTT) has authorized the gradual sale or use as collateral of its 5,833 Bitcoin, valued at about $449 million. The authorization lets CEO Weihong Liu decide the timing, price and size of any transactions, but does not confirm that a sale or pledge will occur. NXTT says its Bitcoin is not held on Binance; the board cited exchange vulnerabilities, the Binance hack and potential quantum-computing threats to Bitcoin’s cryptography as risks. Most of NXTT’s Bitcoin came from a March 2025 acquisition of 5,000 BTC for $158.1 million in shares, warrants and cash advances—about $31,600 per coin. At a Bitcoin price of around $77,000, the holdings were worth more than 50 times NXTT’s roughly $7.8 million market capitalisation. An actual Bitcoin sale could add supply and create some selling pressure, while collateralized borrowing could raise funds without an outright sale. For now, the authorization alone does not mean Bitcoin will enter the market.
Neutral
The authorization is not confirmation that NXTT will sell or pledge its Bitcoin, so it does not create an immediate, measurable change in Bitcoin’s circulating supply. That limits the direct price implication and supports a neutral assessment. In the short term, traders may watch for transaction disclosures or transfers from company-controlled wallets; confirmation of a large sale could prompt concern about additional supply and temporary selling pressure. Conversely, using Bitcoin as collateral could raise funds without an immediate spot-market sale. Over the longer term, actual sales could add supply, while the company’s stated security concerns may draw attention to custody and technology risks. However, the scale of any market effect would depend on the size, timing and execution of transactions, as well as broader liquidity and demand. The authorization alone is therefore not a reliable directional signal for BTC.
