OKX Raises Funds at $25B Valuation, Expands Stablecoins
OKX has secured strategic investment from Circle, Ripple, Qube Research & Technologies and Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures at a $25 billion pre-money valuation. The deal extends funding led by Intercontinental Exchange, but the four new investors’ contributions were not disclosed.
The investment gives existing OKX infrastructure partners a stake in the exchange. Circle’s USDC is integrated into OKX, Qube provides institutional liquidity, Ripple’s RLUSD trades on the platform, and Standard Chartered provides custody for BlackRock’s BUIDL tokenised Treasury fund. OKX said the capital will support international expansion and real-world asset tokenisation.
OKX is also expanding its stablecoin strategy through OKX Money, a savings and payments app. Eligible users can convert more than 50 fiat currencies into USDC, USDT or USDG. Selected USDG balances can offer up to 10% APY, while virtual and physical cards are available in some markets. Terms vary by jurisdiction.
OKX and ICE are also developing tokenised securities infrastructure, including a proposed platform for 24-hour trading in US stocks. The broader shift towards tokenised assets is attracting banks, asset managers and crypto firms.
OKB traded near $134 on 7 October, up about 1.4% in 24 hours and more than 10% over seven days. The funding supports OKX’s institutional, stablecoin and tokenisation strategy, which may strengthen long-term confidence in OKB. However, the unchanged valuation and undisclosed deal size limit the case for an immediate repricing.
Bullish
The news is modestly bullish for OKB. In the short term, the strategic investment and the reported rise of more than 10% over seven days may support positive sentiment and speculative buying. New backing from Circle, Ripple, Qube and Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures also signals stronger institutional confidence in OKX and its trading infrastructure.
The longer-term case is stronger. OKX is expanding into stablecoin payments, real-world asset tokenisation and institutional market infrastructure. These businesses could increase platform activity, liquidity and the strategic value of the OKX ecosystem, creating a more supportive backdrop for OKB.
However, the impact is not unequivocally bullish. The $25 billion pre-money valuation is unchanged, the investment amount is undisclosed and the deal does not directly create new OKB demand. Traders may therefore treat the announcement as confirmation of existing momentum rather than a fundamental valuation reset. Profit-taking after the recent rally could limit short-term gains, while regulatory and jurisdictional restrictions on stablecoin yields and tokenised securities remain risks.
