PancakeSwap proposal boosts LP fees and cuts CAKE emissions

PancakeSwap is discussing a proposal to send 88% of trading fees from its v3 and Infinity pools to liquidity providers (LPs), with the remaining share going to the protocol treasury. The proposal has not yet been put to a vote. Its emissions plan would bring the cumulative reduction in CAKE emissions to about 69%, following Tokenomics 3.0’s roughly 44% cut in daily emissions in April 2025. PancakeSwap says CAKE supply has fallen from about 392 million in September 2023 to around 330 million by October 2026, with 37 consecutive months of net burns. The existing v2 fee structure, including CAKE buybacks and burns, would remain unchanged. The proposed split could make v3 and Infinity more attractive to LPs, but lower emissions mean fewer token rewards, so the effect will depend on trading volume and fee income. Traders will be watching governance discussions, any formal vote, and changes in LP deposits, trading activity and CAKE’s supply trend.
Bullish
The proposal is mildly bullish for CAKE because lower emissions could reduce new token supply, while directing 88% of v3 and Infinity fees to LPs may help attract liquidity and support trading activity. PancakeSwap also reports a 37-month net-burn streak and a decline in supply from about 392 million to 330 million tokens. These figures reinforce a deflationary narrative, but they do not guarantee a price increase. The immediate market effect may be limited: the proposal is still under discussion, and traders may wait for a formal vote and details on implementation. The fee share going to the treasury rather than directly to buybacks also leaves uncertainty about how much of that revenue could benefit CAKE holders. Lower emissions could reduce LP rewards, and the higher fee share will only compensate if pool volumes remain strong. In the short term, CAKE may react to governance updates, trading volumes and broader crypto-market sentiment. Over the longer term, sustained fee generation, liquidity growth and continued net burns could support the token’s fundamentals. If activity shifts toward v3 and Infinity without preserving sufficient burn activity, however, the pace of supply reduction could change. The overall assessment is therefore positive but conditional, rather than a clear near-term catalyst.
