Richard Heart Arrested; HEX Falls Nearly 50%

HEX plunged nearly 30% after early reports said founder Richard Heart, legally known as Richard James Schueler, had been detained in Istanbul. Later reports said Turkish authorities arrested him on Wednesday, following an Interpol Red Notice requested by Finland over alleged crypto fraud. Authorities said they seized more than $7 million in cash, along with electronic devices, firearms, ammunition, drones and luxury goods. The arrest has renewed scrutiny of HEX, PulseChain and PulseX. In 2023, the US Securities and Exchange Commission accused Heart and companies he controlled of raising more than $1 billion through unregistered crypto offerings and alleged that at least $12 million was misused. A federal judge dismissed the case in 2025 on jurisdictional grounds, and the SEC did not amend its complaint. The allegations have not been established as fact. HEX fell nearly 50% in less than 24 hours on October 14, from about $0.00090 to $0.00046, before recovering to around $0.00060. The sharp move highlights elevated volatility and legal uncertainty for HEX traders; reports so far indicate the selling has been concentrated in HEX, with no clear broader-market effect.
Bearish
The arrest and renewed legal scrutiny are negative catalysts for HEX. The initial reports were followed by news of an arrest, and HEX’s nearly 50% intraday decline shows how quickly traders may reduce exposure when a token’s founder faces a major legal risk. In the short term, uncertainty could sustain selling pressure, increase volatility and weaken liquidity as traders react to further updates or potential exchange and community responses. The price recovery to around $0.00060 indicates that some buyers entered after the steep fall, but it does not remove the event risk. Longer term, HEX’s direction will depend on the legal process, project activity and whether confidence among holders returns. The SEC case was dismissed on jurisdictional grounds and the allegations remain unproven, so the arrest alone does not establish guilt or determine the project’s future. Even so, the combination of the reported arrest and prior scrutiny is likely to weigh on sentiment toward HEX. The reported move has so far been concentrated in HEX rather than the wider crypto market.
