Ripple Expands BNY Custody and XRP Ledger Trade Finance
Ripple has expanded its partnership with BNY, which now supports institutional custody and transfers of XRP and RLUSD through its Digital Asset Custody platform. The companies are also exploring direct RLUSD minting and redemption and tokenized investment products on the XRP Ledger. These services remain under development.
Separately, Ripple and working-capital platform C2FO plan to use the XRP Ledger and RLUSD to finance approved business invoices and settle payments. The proposal aims to help suppliers receive funds within seconds, rather than wait days for bank transfers or 30 to 90 days for invoice payments. C2FO says its existing early-payment programs have facilitated more than $250 billion in working capital, a figure unrelated to XRP Ledger activity.
No launch date, committed financing or production transaction volumes have been disclosed, and C2FO is collecting expressions of interest. Ripple puts RLUSD’s market capitalization at about $2.5 billion, with more than $1 billion issued on the XRP Ledger. The expanded XRP and RLUSD use cases could support institutional adoption, but the trade-finance plans have yet to be proven in live operations.
Neutral
The news is modestly supportive of XRP over the longer term because BNY’s custody and transfer support, alongside proposed RLUSD-based invoice finance, could expand institutional access to the XRP Ledger. However, the plans remain exploratory or under development, with no launch date, committed financing or live transaction volumes disclosed. C2FO’s reported $250 billion in working capital relates to its existing programs, not XRP Ledger activity, so it should not be treated as evidence of network demand. In the short term, traders may respond to the institutional partnership and RLUSD figures, but without confirmed deployment or measurable XRP usage, the announcement is unlikely to establish sustained buying pressure or materially change market stability. A neutral classification best reflects the gap between potential adoption and verified activity.
