Robinhood Bitcoin Prediction Markets Grow as Event Trading Surges
Robinhood says Bitcoin, gold and crude oil prediction contracts are among its fastest-growing products, though sports remains its largest event-contract category. At a September conference, the company said the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision was its biggest event contract that month, exceeding any single sporting event. Robinhood offers event contracts through Kalshi, and some Bitcoin prediction markets now settle in as little as 15 minutes, compared with settlement periods of a week or a day previously. Faster Bitcoin prediction markets create more opportunities for short-term speculation, but can also magnify losses and make liquidity and spreads more important. In the second quarter of 2026, event contracts generated $156 million in revenue, above equity trading at $129 million and cryptocurrency transactions at $100 million. Customers traded about 13.6 billion contracts, more than ten times the year-earlier total. Robinhood says prediction markets can bring customers into its other products, including crypto, while legal challenges to sports contracts may make financial markets a growth avenue. It has not disclosed separate volumes or growth rates for individual financial contracts, or how much prediction-market users contribute to other businesses.
Neutral
The developments concern Robinhood’s event-contract business rather than a change in Bitcoin’s fundamentals, adoption or supply, so they do not establish a clear directional catalyst for BTC. In the short term, faster-settling Bitcoin prediction markets may attract speculative activity and increase attention to Bitcoin prices, but this is not evidence of sustained spot-market buying. Short expiries can also raise trading risk and make liquidity, spreads and contract positioning more influential. Over the longer term, growth in prediction markets may broaden retail participation in financial-event trading, yet Robinhood has not disclosed Bitcoin-specific contract volumes or shown that this activity translates into demand for Bitcoin itself. The reported revenue and contract growth therefore signal expansion in Robinhood’s business, not a direct forecast for BTC’s price or market stability.
