Robinhood Chain Logs $15B in Stock Token Trading
Robinhood Chain reported $15 billion in cumulative stock token trading volume during its first 100 days, following its July 1, 2026 mainnet launch. The Ethereum Layer 2, built on Arbitrum Orbit, also has about 200,000 stock token holders, according to Robinhood. Morpho’s dashboard shows roughly $1.1 billion deposited on the network.
In September, Robinhood accounted for about 42% of on-chain equity trading volume, or $6.57 billion. Its ERC-20 stock tokens provide economic exposure to US shares and ETFs and are backed 1:1 by equities held in custody. They do not confer ownership or voting rights, and are legally structured as debt securities. Eligible users can trade them around the clock on decentralised exchanges or use them in Morpho lending markets. Access excludes users in the US, UK and Canada.
The figures point to growing demand for tokenized equities and related DeFi activity, but adoption and market share remain subject to competition from networks including BNB Chain and Solana. Token holders also rely on the issuer and custody arrangements rather than owning the underlying shares directly.
Neutral
The figures are encouraging for Robinhood Chain and the tokenized-equity sector, but they do not establish a direct catalyst for the prices of ETH or other major cryptocurrencies. Trading volume, holder numbers and Morpho deposits indicate activity and potential demand for on-chain financial products; however, the article gives no comparable historical baseline or evidence that this growth is translating into sustained purchases of network tokens. Robinhood Chain uses ETH for gas, so higher activity could modestly support ETH demand, but the scale of that effect is unclear.
In the short term, traders may view the $15 billion in cumulative volume, 200,000 holders and September market share as positive adoption signals for tokenization. The $1.1 billion in deposits also suggests that some users are putting assets to work in DeFi rather than only trading them. Still, headline volume can be affected by concentrated or repeated trading, and deposits do not necessarily represent durable inflows into the broader crypto market.
Over the longer term, continued growth could strengthen the case for tokenized real-world assets and competition among Ethereum Layer 2 networks and other chains. Similar adoption announcements in crypto have often attracted attention to the relevant ecosystem, but lasting price effects generally depend on repeat usage, liquidity, fees and whether activity produces demand for the chain’s native assets. Competition from BNB Chain and Solana, restricted access in major markets, and reliance on the issuer and custody structure are material constraints. The tokens provide economic exposure but not direct share ownership or voting rights. On balance, the news is positive for the product’s adoption narrative, but its broad market implications are limited and uncertain, supporting a neutral classification.
