Robinhood Chain Surges as Crypto Revenue Rises

Robinhood reported record revenue of $1.42 billion, slightly below forecasts, while earnings per share of $0.51 also missed estimates. Crypto revenue rose 20% from the previous quarter to $120 million, although it remained well below the year-earlier level. On the earnings call, CEO Vlad Tenev said Robinhood Chain had outpaced expectations and the company would increase investment. His comments helped lift several tokens linked to the ecosystem. Crypto markets rose ahead of the Federal Reserve’s FOMC decision. Bitcoin ETFs recorded $176 million in net inflows, while spot Ether ETFs saw $60 million in outflows. Ripple received final approval from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a national trust bank, and Google previewed a crypto custody service for banks, with commercial availability targeted for 2027. Other developments included Robinhood adding Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and Circle piloting USDC settlement in Colombia’s instant-payments network. Meanwhile, 26 companies have objected to tokenized versions of their shares on an OKX-ICE venue, and Bithumb disclosed a data breach. The news points to growing institutional and onchain activity, but mixed ETF flows and regulatory and security concerns remain relevant risks for crypto traders.
Bullish
The overall signal is mildly bullish, led by Robinhood’s commitment to expand Robinhood Chain and the broader institutional infrastructure developments. Tenev said the chain had exceeded internal expectations and that Robinhood would increase investment. Traders often respond positively when a major consumer-finance platform signals sustained support for an onchain ecosystem; the reported 20–50% gains among some ecosystem leaders show how quickly that narrative can be priced in. However, those smaller tokens may be volatile and the gains do not necessarily indicate broad-based demand. The $176 million in Bitcoin ETF inflows and a 2–4% rebound in major crypto assets also support a short-term positive reading. Past periods of strong spot ETF inflows have often coincided with improved Bitcoin sentiment, though daily flows can reverse and should not be treated as a reliable forecast. The FOMC decision remains a near-term catalyst: rate expectations and the dollar could outweigh company-specific news and drive volatility across crypto markets. Longer term, Google’s custody preview, Ripple’s bank approval and stablecoin payment pilots point to continued institutional adoption. These developments may improve custody, settlement and access to digital assets. Offsetting factors include $60 million in Ether ETF outflows, objections to tokenized shares, and the Bithumb data breach. Overall, the news favours a constructive outlook for crypto adoption, but traders should distinguish that longer-term trend from short-term price risk and monitor ETF flows, policy signals and liquidity.
