Robinhood Chain Stock Tokens See 59% of Trading Outside US Hours

Robinhood Chain recorded $3.68 billion in decentralised exchange trading volume for tokenised stocks between 24 September and 23 October, according to crypto researcher Tom Wan. Some 59% of that activity took place outside regular US stock-market hours. Regular-session trading accounted for $1.5 billion, or 41% of the total. The remaining activity included $677 million in pre-market trading, $608 million overnight, $532 million at weekends and $363 million after hours. The figures highlight Robinhood Chain’s role in offering access to tokenised stocks beyond conventional market schedules. Nasdaq and NYSE Arca plan to introduce trading five days a week for 23 hours a day from 6 December. That change could address some demand for overnight access, but would not provide weekend trading. Wan said weekend availability remains a distinctive advantage for on-chain markets.
Neutral
The data points to demand for trading tokenised stocks outside standard US market hours, but it does not establish a direct catalyst for broader cryptocurrency prices. The reported volume may support the case for Robinhood Chain’s utility and for on-chain access to traditional assets, especially during weekends. However, a single month of trading activity does not show whether demand is persistent, profitable or large enough to affect the wider market. In the short term, attention may focus on Robinhood Chain activity and the competitive difference between on-chain weekend access and traditional venues. The planned 23-hour, five-day schedules at Nasdaq and NYSE Arca could reduce the appeal of on-chain overnight trading for some users, while leaving the weekend gap intact. Traders may monitor tokenised-stock volumes, liquidity, spreads and any changes in access or settlement rules. Longer term, extended traditional-market hours could increase competition and encourage on-chain platforms to differentiate through continuous availability and settlement. As with other moves to expand trading access, such as the growth of extended-hours equity trading, greater availability can attract activity but does not by itself guarantee sustained adoption or price appreciation. The article reports no change to crypto asset prices, liquidity or market stability, so the most appropriate overall assessment is neutral.
