Sandisk Contracts Boost Growth but Limit Upside

Sandisk (SNDK) has strengthened its growth outlook through strong fourth-quarter results and long-term data-centre contracts. The company has eight multiyear agreements covering about 50% of expected fiscal 2027 NAND bit shipments and 67% of fiscal 2028 shipments. New disclosures put minimum contract commitments at $93.9 billion, with a further $16.5 billion in guarantees, extending revenue visibility through 2028. Management expects mid-to-high-teens revenue growth, roughly 80% gross margins and a 50% free-cash-flow margin through 2030. Sandisk’s Kioxia joint venture should also reduce capital intensity by sharing technology, equipment and NAND capacity through 2034. Its planned high-bandwidth flash product, targeted for 2027, could provide additional upside from AI inference demand. However, Sandisk remains exposed to NAND price cycles, rising supply, macroeconomic uncertainty and potential China-related disruptions. The stock has gained about 2% since mid-July, while analysts see roughly 10% further upside. Although data-centre demand and contract visibility support Sandisk, elevated valuation and semiconductor-cycle risks suggest limited near-term upside and continued volatility.
Neutral
The news is neutral for SNDK because the company’s long-term fundamentals have improved, but the latest update does not clearly justify a major short-term repricing. Multiyear data-centre contracts, substantial commitments and the Kioxia joint venture improve revenue visibility, reduce capital intensity and could support earnings through the NAND cycle. AI-related demand and future high-bandwidth flash products provide additional long-term growth potential. In the short term, however, the stock has already risen, analysts estimate only about 10% further upside, and valuation remains above some memory-sector peers. NAND oversupply, pricing volatility, macroeconomic risks and possible China-related disruptions could trigger profit-taking or renewed selling. Traders may therefore respond positively to contract announcements but remain cautious until shipment growth, margins and NAND prices confirm the outlook. The longer-term trend is constructive, while the immediate price impact is likely to be mixed and volatile.
