Securitize Adds Direct Anchorage Stablecoin Access

Securitize will let institutional clients mint and redeem stablecoins directly through Anchorage Digital Bank, reducing intermediaries in the cash-settlement leg of tokenized fund trades. The companies have not said which Anchorage stablecoin clients will use. Anchorage’s offerings include USDtb, developed with Ethena Labs, and USA₮, developed with Tether. USDtb had about $530 million in reserves at the end of August, with 99% backed by BUIDL tokens, according to the earlier report. Anchorage, a federally chartered US crypto bank supervised by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), will issue, custody and settle the tokens. Securitize operates tokenization infrastructure for firms including BlackRock and KKR and has more than $4 billion in tokenized fund assets. The companies said direct access to federally overseen digital dollars could help align stablecoin transactions with standards for tokenized securities. The announcement preceded the OCC’s final stablecoin rule under the GENIUS Act by one day. The direct stablecoin channel could make institutional settlement more efficient and broaden Anchorage’s distribution, but the choice of token and the arrangement’s regulatory details remain important unknowns. The news is mainly an infrastructure development, not an immediate broad-market price catalyst; USDtb’s reported concentration in BUIDL-backed reserves is also a risk to monitor.
Neutral
The announcement does not identify a specific stablecoin that Securitize will use, nor does it indicate immediate changes to token supply or demand. As a result, the direct price effect on USDtb, USA₮ or other cryptocurrencies is likely limited, making a neutral assessment appropriate. In the short term, traders may monitor the OCC rule and any clarification of the arrangement’s regulatory or operational details, but the news alone is unlikely to create a broad market catalyst. Over the longer term, direct minting and redemption could support institutional stablecoin adoption and improve settlement infrastructure. That may benefit the use and distribution of the selected stablecoin, but it does not guarantee price gains. USDtb’s reported reserves are heavily backed by BUIDL, so concentration and reserve quality remain relevant risks; stablecoin prices also generally aim to hold their peg rather than appreciate.
