SoFi Earnings Surge, but Crypto Revenue Remains Small
SoFi reported record third-quarter results, with revenue up 44% year over year to $1.39 billion, net income rising 73% to $241 million and adjusted earnings of $0.18 per share, above analysts’ estimates. The company added a record 1.2 million members and raised its 2026 adjusted revenue outlook to about $5.04 billion. Its Technology Platform revenue fell about 23% after losing a major customer. Shares rose sharply after the results, although they remained nearly 45% lower year to date.
For crypto traders, SoFi’s digital-asset business showed increased activity but remained a small part of its finances. Crypto products totaled 503,070 at quarter-end, while net crypto transaction revenue was $1.6 million, or about 0.1% of total net revenue. September crypto trades rose 14% from August to 218,469; Bitcoin made up 39% of trading volume, and 44% of traders were making their first crypto trade. SoFi has resumed retail crypto trading and expanded stablecoin settlement through Mastercard’s payment network. It also offers access to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and XRP. The update signals expanding crypto access, but SoFi’s results are primarily driven by its broader lending and financial services businesses.
Neutral
The news is neutral for BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP prices because SoFi’s strong company-wide results do not directly change the fundamentals or supply-demand balance of these assets. The higher number of crypto trades and SoFi’s expanded retail access and stablecoin settlement may support adoption over time, but crypto transaction revenue was only $1.6 million, around 0.1% of SoFi’s total net revenue. In the short term, traders may view the figures as a modest sign of improving retail interest, but they are unlikely to be a major price catalyst for the named tokens. Longer term, broader distribution through financial platforms could gradually widen access; however, SoFi’s results are not evidence of a material shift in crypto market liquidity or stability.
