Sophon Mainnet Shutdown Sets November 25 Withdrawal Deadline
Sophon plans to shut down its mainnet on November 30, 2026, and requires users to withdraw assets by November 25. The deadline covers SOPH, ETH and USDC held on Sophon, as well as unclaimed staking and Guardian rewards and assets in Sophon Farm. The project warns that assets left behind may become permanently inaccessible as websites and infrastructure are phased out. Users should check each balance separately and use only Sophon’s official claims portal and designated farm interface. SOPH on Ethereum is separate from SOPH on the retiring Sophon network. Binance stopped Sophon mainnet transfers on August 4, while Upbit plans to end SOPH trading on November 16; neither exchange schedule replaces Sophon’s withdrawal deadline.
The Sophon mainnet shutdown follows the project’s move away from operating its own chain to building applications on Base. Sophon says future app revenue could fund SOPH buybacks and burns, but it has published no audited revenue results or guaranteed buyback amount. The shutdown is scheduled, while the success of the new business model and its effect on SOPH demand remain uncertain.
Bearish
The Sophon mainnet shutdown creates a near-term source of selling and uncertainty for SOPH. Users facing a firm withdrawal deadline may move tokens to exchanges or sell rather than retain exposure, while assets left on the retiring network risk becoming inaccessible. The distinction between Sophon-network SOPH and Ethereum-based SOPH may also cause confusion and add volatility around the deadline. Exchange trading and transfer schedules could affect liquidity, but they do not remove the on-chain withdrawal risk.
Longer term, moving development to Base and the possibility of app-funded buybacks and burns could support sentiment if the business generates verifiable revenue. However, no audited revenue figures or committed buyback amounts have been provided, so traders have little basis to price in that potential support. The planned closure and uncertain replacement business therefore leave the balance of risks tilted negative for SOPH, although market pricing may depend on how much shutdown risk is already reflected in the token’s price.
