Tesla-SpaceX Merger Could Unite 30,221 Bitcoin

Tesla and SpaceX hold a combined 30,221 BTC, valued at about $2.47 billion at the price cited on 22 October. Tesla reported 11,509 BTC, while SpaceX disclosed 18,712 BTC in a June IPO filing. Elon Musk says independent board committees are examining a possible merger, but no terms have been agreed and the proposal would require shareholder approval, including support from holders of 50% of Tesla’s shares. If completed, the merger could make the companies the sixth-largest publicly listed corporate Bitcoin holder; their holdings would remain below 4% of Strategy’s 848,517 BTC. Bringing the Bitcoin onto one balance sheet would not itself create new demand. Trader Scott Melker said consolidation would neither add buying pressure nor remove more Bitcoin from the market. Neither company has said whether it would buy or sell Bitcoin if the merger proceeds.
Neutral
The proposed Tesla-SpaceX merger is unlikely to have a material direct effect on Bitcoin’s price because it would combine existing holdings rather than represent a new purchase. In the short term, the headline could draw trader attention to corporate Bitcoin holdings and prompt limited sentiment-driven volatility, but there is no confirmed transaction or announced change in buying or selling plans. Over the longer term, a merger could make Bitcoin price movements more visible in the combined company’s financial results. However, the holdings’ transfer between corporate entities would not change Bitcoin’s circulating supply or create new demand, so the direct market impact remains neutral unless either company later announces significant trades.
