XLM Bell Upgrade Hits Testnet as Price Holds Near $0.16 Support
Stellar’s Protocol 30, known as Bell, is live on testnet ahead of a validator vote on November 23. The upgrade adds muxed contract addresses for managing multiple customer balances, post-quantum ML-DSA signature verification for Soroban smart contracts, and millisecond timestamps to support potential faster ledger closes in the future. Wallets, exchanges and infrastructure providers must update before mainnet activation.
The technical milestone has not lifted XLM. The token traded near $0.16 and was down about 28% over the past month and 5% in seven days. XLM remains below its 50-day moving average near $0.18 and its 200-day average near $0.19. RSI is around 35, while MACD also signals downward momentum.
The $0.16 area is the immediate support to watch. A daily close below it could expose support near $0.14; resistance lies around $0.17, with a stronger trend-reversal signal requiring a move back above the moving averages. The November 23 validator vote is a potential catalyst, but broader market weakness or a delayed or rejected vote could weigh on XLM.
Bearish
The near-term market setup is bearish for XLM despite the positive development news. The Bell testnet launch adds useful functionality for institutions and introduces an early post-quantum security feature, but testnet milestones do not guarantee mainnet approval or immediate adoption. The November 23 validator vote is a possible catalyst, yet traders have so far shown little buying response.
Price action and momentum indicators reinforce the cautious view: XLM is down about 28% over the past month, trades below both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, and sits near $0.16 support. RSI around 35 indicates weak momentum but is not yet oversold; MACD remains below its signal line. A daily close below $0.16 could put the next support near $0.14 in focus and may prompt further selling. A move above nearby resistance around $0.17, followed by a recovery over the moving averages, would weaken the bearish case.
Similar to other blockchain upgrade announcements, the technical milestone may support longer-term confidence without producing an immediate price rally, particularly when the broader trend is negative. Over the short term, traders are likely to prioritize support levels, the validator vote and overall crypto-market direction. Longer term, successful mainnet activation and uptake of the new tools could strengthen Stellar’s institutional and security proposition. However, that potential is not yet reflected in the chart, and a broad market selloff could outweigh the upgrade catalyst.
